"This image beautifully captures the fleeting and transformative nature of the night. By combining the delicate glow of the fireflies with the sweeping motion of star trails, the photographer reveals a world that exists beyond ordinary perception. The layering of time light and movement creates a sense of wonder and discovery, inviting viewers to slow down and experience the rhythms of the natural world after dark. The work embodies the spirit of After Dark by demonstrating how photography can uncover beauty, mystery and connection in the darkness."

Fireflies and Startrails

Jupiter setting over a field of Fireflies

This photograph was taken at Potato Creek State Park in Indiana. It is a stack of approximately 500 photos taken over the course of an hour. The sky is from one of the individual frames.

Fireflies and Coneflowers

I was photographing fireflies in a field at Potato Creek State Park. I had two cameras setup and was ready to relax when I noticed this cluster of wildflowers. Fortunately, I had a third camera with me. I set up the camera hoping some fireflies would appear.  As you can see they did.
